Plugging Holes In Van Roof

Plugging the holes in my roof rack.
Plugging holes in van roof. Must be the silicone that worked for you then. Hole is probably 1 4 or so. This leaves open the holes where the torx head bolts go and i did not want crap getting down in them and gumming up the threads. But if the shingles are going on top of the lag bolts i d remove them and fill the holes with some extra roof cement.
As noted above the search capability on this forum is uhm challenging. If you climb on your transit roof you won t find any of these threaded holes because they come with rubber plug and ford simply painted over them. So we have established that there are existing holes into the van both in the roof and underneath that are stopped with plastic rubber plugs. Jump to latest follow 1 3 of 3 posts. 1 for the roof cement. Might distort the roof though.
You don t want anything sticking up that would wear out the shingle from below. I did investigate hd and similar stores once for plastic plugs and did not see anything that looked close to suitable for waterproof hole plugging. I was thinking that crap that could get in through the big holes would plug up whatever the draining mechanism is. Do they have stainless metal screws that big.
Removed the rubber plug and installed a rubber grommet in that hole.
